Busy doing what?
In a world where we are constantly connected, it’s easy to feel that we are always busy. But busy doing what? Whilst the growth of digital has created millions of benefits, it’s easy to get distracted by social media, instant messages or constant notifications on your phone making even the most simple tasks take longer or trying to do too many things at once.
Here is a list of my top 5 apps to help organise your day and work smarter, not harder and giving you time for a fair work life balance.
Work smarter, not harder!
If you are a fan of the Pomodoro Technique, this is a great app to use for short bursts of concentration. You can add the app to your desktop to start a timer but, it also collects data so you can view how much time you are spending on a certain project or client and even add in monetary value. You have a choice of three plans (the first one is free and gives you 20 sessions a month). I personally find this most useful when I have a lot to get done in a day to keep me focused and time efficient.
A personal favourite of mine and great for those of you who love a list! You can sync your account across multiple devices so you can stay on track wherever you are. You can organise both personal and work life, grouping lists together, setting reminders, due dates and share your lists with family, friends or colleagues. It works across any device so you won’t have an excuse to forget anything again!
Another great app for lists and reminders but their virtual assistant really adds something special to the mix. Using AI technology, it can help you with tasks to you can focus your time on the things you enjoy. For example, if you need to buy a card for someone’s birthday, you can give all the information in a text message format, and it will search online for what you need within your price range. You can also customise your plan to make it as personal as you like. Again, there are more basic free options or you can upgrade to premium.
Award winning app Workflow is an iOS app that allows you to create your own personalised shortcuts from your home screen. This is for Apple enthusiasts as you can even link it to your Apple Watch for ultimate time-saving efficiency. You create your own workflow from sharing photos or information on social media to directions to your next meeting and even add reminders of things to do when you get home! You then add a widget from your home screen on your iPhone to open your workflow, tap a shortcut and your off!
I use this one every day. Rather than going back and forth trying to organise multiple diaries for a meeting, you can set up an account with Calendly. You simply send the link to the person you are trying to book the meeting with and they can view all the available times in your calendar. You can personalise your account with a message and you get an email with an option to add directly into your calendar.
